General dentistry

At Smilecare we are dedicated to treating the whole person. Our mission is to provide the treatment necessary to restore a mouth and teeth to full health and function, and to ensure that the situation is maintained into the future. We advise and help with general health issues. All our treatment is geared towards an aesthetic outcome, so that a patient's smile and appearance is enhanced, making them feel better about themselves and more confident in their social activities.

All of the dentists and staff at Smilecare attend frequent courses to keep abreast of the developments in high quality dentistry. By being at the forefront of the latest evidence based dentistry, we can offer you the most appropriate treatment for your needs. Having the most advanced equipment helps us to deliver this level of expertise.

Nervous Patients

At Smilecare we treat very many nervous patients. Many of these patients have had previous bad experiences of dental treatment.

We are very successful at treating most of our nervous patients with a caring and gentle approach.

For those patients that require further help, we offer dental treatment under sedation. The sedation procedure is carried out by our consultant anaesthetist in a safe and reassuring manner.

Fresh breath

It has been estimated that up to 60% of people suffer from bad breath (halitosis). And most do not even realise it! Bad breath is something that we only notice on others, as it is almost impossible to smell your own breath.

The good news is that bad breath is treatable and a healthy, fresh mouth can easily be attained. We are aware of how embarrassing this condition can be, and are able to offer effective treatment in an understanding and sympathetic way.

Gum disease

Gum disease is very common and affects more than 90% of the population at some stage. Periodontal disease is an infection affecting the gums, bone and other supporting tissues of the teeth. It is caused by bacteria that live around the tooth roots. Most of us may have a less serious form of reversible inflammation called gingivitis. Those who have the more severe form, called periodontitis, are at the greatest risk of losing teeth as they become loose.

Recent studies have shown a possible association between periodontal disease and various other conditions, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, osteoporosis and arthritis. So taking care of your teeth and gums should be a high priority.

Most gum conditions can be treated without resorting to tooth extraction or complex treatments if they are caught early enough. We at Smilecare have assembled a dedicated team of experienced periodontists, dentists and hygienists to treat all forms of the disease and to maintain the ongoing health of your gums.
